Reiki
Reiki (pronounced Ray-key)
A gentle, non-invasive complementary therapy originating in Japan that is used for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.
The word Reiki means "spiritually guided life force energy." Practitioners believe this "life force energy" flows through all living things. When this energy is low or blocked, it can cause feelings of stress, imbalance, or illness.
-
How it Works: A certified Reiki practitioner uses light, non-manipulative touch—or holds their hands just above the body—to channel this universal energy to help balance their energy system.
-
The Goal: The aim is to restore balance and promote the body's natural healing processes on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level.
-
What to Expect: A typical session is deeply relaxing. Many clients report feeling a comforting warmth, tingling, or a profound sense of peace.
Disclaimer: Reiki is often used alongside conventional medical care to support overall well-being, reduce anxiety, and encourage deep relaxation. It does not replace medical care.
Benefits
Physical Health
- Deep Relaxation and Stress Reduction: Reiki activates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and lowering heart rate and blood pressure.
- Pain Management: It helps ease chronic pain, tension headaches, and migraines, and can reduce pain perception after surgery or during cancer treatment.
- Improved Sleep: By reducing anxiety and tension, Reiki improves sleep quality, especially for those with insomnia.
- Enhanced Physical Healing: Reiki may boost the body's self-healing, aiding recovery from injuries, illness, or surgery.
- Immune System Support: By reducing stress, Reiki supports more efficient immune function
Mental and Emotional
- Anxiety and Depression Relief: Regular sessions reduce anxiety and depression symptoms.
- Mental Clarity and Focus: Reiki clears mental fog, enhancing focus on daily tasks.
- Emotional Resilience: Supports processing grief, anger, or trauma by releasing energy blocks.
- Improved Mood: Recipients often feel lighter, grounded, and more positive post-session.
Spiritual and Holistic
- Spiritual Growth: As a mind-body-spirit practice, it encourages a deeper connection with one's inner self and a sense of spiritual peace.
- Energy Balancing: Practitioners aim to balance the body’s chakras (energy centers) and aura (energy field), promoting a state of wholeness and harmony.
- Mindfulness Guidance: The practice is often paired with the Five Reiki Principles (daily affirmations focused on gratitude, kindness, and releasing worry/anger) to foster personal growth.
What to Expect
- Non-Invasive: Sessions last 45-90 minutes. You stay fully clothed as the practitioner lightly places hands on or near specific body areas.
- Sensations: You might feel warmth, tingling, or pulsing, though some feel nothing yet still benefit.
- Cumulative Effects: One session offers relaxation, but a series (e.g., 3-6) is often recommended for lasting benefits.
